Here is our list of 8 amazing books moms should read, especially as a stay at home or work from home mom. (Plus 3 that are on our reading list!)
I have to say that I go through seasons of reading. As a kid, I enjoyed books but I never really read much for fun. And as a young adult, I guess I didn’t want to wait to know what happened at the end so I would try to stay up and finish a whole novel in one or two sittings.
Now as a mom, I have awakened a new love for reading that has really taken me by surprise. I try to have 2 or 3 books going at any given time with a stack waiting to be read. Also, if you haven’t tried the Libby app, definitely look into it. You can check out digital books and audible books from the library and read on your phone or Kindle.

1.
To say that this book is life changing would be an understatement. It was just what I needed at just the right time. John Eldredge offers everyday practices “for a world gone mad.” Taking a One Minute Pause, Drinking in Beauty, Getting Outside and Allowing Transitions are all chapters with helpful ideas on how to get our lives back.
2. Grumpy Mom Takes a Holiday
This was one of the first books that I read on motherhood after becoming a mom. I mentioned before that I was so overwhelmed by trying to run a small business and be a stay at home mom. I received some helpful advice in this book and it is on my list to read again.
3. Well-Watered Woman
This book isn’t just for moms but for all women. I love the analogies to gardening and growing. It is a helpful reminder that Jesus is the Way. He is the Vine and we are the branches. Anyone looking to get back to their “roots” in Christ should read this one.
4. The Lazy Genius Way
We women tend to go all in or not try at all. Trying to be perfect all the time will lead us to burnout, but retreating and hiding will leave us unfulfilled. In this book, Kendra offers a new way to get things done. We can be lazy to the things that don’t matter to us and geniuses to the things that do.
5. The Next Right Thing
For anyone having trouble making big decisions or needing a fresh perspective before making a life decision, this book is for you.
6. The Magnolia Story
This book is not only a great read for fans of the show Fixer Upper, but also for any aspiring entrepreneurs. I also thought it was a great love story recounting the days of Chip and Joe dating and their marriage and love for one another.
I was inspired by their determination and hard work and how far they came from humble beginnings.
7. Welcome Home
This book goes right inline with our seasons and routines of Graceful Planning. In it, Myquillyn Smith gives ideas on how to decorate your home throughout the seasons shopping your home first and also bringing in natural elements.
8. Captivating
This is the latest book that I’ve read that I couldn’t put down. It has shown me a new way to look at a women’s heart and why we were created. This book will have you looking at your past and searching for healing from the things that have wounded you. It inspires us to become the women God created us to be and to live from a place of love.
And here are the 3 books that we have on our list to read:
